Puppy Care from birth to Going home -

From even before they’re born, my puppies receive the best care by giving the parents vitamins: Oxy Mate and Oxy Stud during breeding and pregnancy and NuVet Plus every day.  Once the pups are born they reside in a clean canvas crate on a heat pad with their momma.

At 2 weeks old they open their eyes and ears and start trying to get up and walk.  Pups and momma get a deworming at 2 weeks old and then every 10 days until going home.  At 3 weeks the pups are starting to explore out of their crate and have a pen set up with a square of astro turf grass to start the potty training process.

At 4 weeks they get to start eating puppy mush: softened puppy kibble with NuVet powder, CocciGuard, probiotics, and a little puppy milk formula.  The grass patch is moved a little away from the crate.  They are given a vaccine called NeoPar. Here is more information on NeoPar:  https://neotechvaccines.com/vaccines/neopar

At 5 weeks they are playing a lot more: play fighting with each other, running, and starting to bark and howl.  We do a lot more socializing and desensitizing starting at this age.  They are brought to a new to them place in the house to explore, meet the cat, crinkle toys are put in their pen along with other noisy hanging toys.  Their grass patch is not at the opposite side of the pen than their crate (they don’t always make it to the grass at this age but almost).  Momma usually starts weaning them between 5-6 weeks.

At 6-7 weeks they go for their nose to tail Vet check up.  Everyone at the vet always loves to see my puppies and exclaims how sweet and friendly they are!  They also receive their first combo vaccine.

At 8 weeks they are mostly using the grass patch even when they have open house roaming.
